- מְרִיעַm. (v. מְרַע) weak, ailing. Targ. Mal. 1:8 דמ׳ (ed. Lag. דמרע) that which is sick; ib. 13.Pl. מְרִיעִין, מְרִיעַיָּא, מְרִיעֵי. Targ. Y. Ex. 18:20. Targ. Ez. 34:4 (ed. Lag. מְרָעַיָּא).R. Hash. 16a מצלינן … אקצירי ואמ׳ we pray now for the sick and the ailing; Ned.49b קצירי קצירי ממש מ׳ רבנן by ḳtsire we mean the really sick, by mriʿé we mean the scholars (in delicate health).
